With great joy, the Holy See announces the appointment of the new Auxiliary Bishop of Cebu, the Most Rev. Ruben C. Labajo. The news broke out after Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma announced the appointment in a gathering of priests and lay faithful in the Archbishop’s Residence on June 23, 2022.

Prior to his appointment, the Bishop-Elect served in different parishes, as Parish Priest of Sto. Nino Parish in Sta. Fe, Bantayan, Moderator of St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Tabunok, Talisay City, and Rector of the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, to name a few.

At present, the Bishop-Elect is the Moderator of St. Francis de Assisi Parish in Balamban, Cebu, and one of the two Vicars General of the Archdiocese of Cebu.

He will join the Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma and Cebu Auxiliary Bishop Midyphil Billones as Auxiliary Bishop in the administration of the largest archdiocese in the Philippines with over 600 priests, diocesan and religious, and with almost 5 million baptized Catholics.

Details will be announced soon for Bishop-Elect Ruben Labajo’s episcopal ordination.
