The Archdiocese of Cebu Catechetical Ministry (ACCM) launched its anticipated Catechetical Program

The Archdiocese of Cebu Catechetical Ministry (ACCM) celebrated its 4-in-1 event—“Day of Blessings” (Katekista Book Caravan, Unveiling of their New Logo, Blessing of the Catechetical Studio, and Launching of Catechist’s Hymn)—last July 29 at the Archdiocesan Catechetical Center, C. Borces St., Mabolo, Cebu City.

Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma presided over the Holy Mass. Together with him were Rev. Fr. Ernesto de Leon, Executive Secretary of Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education (ECCCE), Rev. Fr. Joseph Yntig (ACCM Director), catechetical directors, and other visiting priests.

Prior to the mass, the celebration began with the unveiling of the new ACCM logo and the blessing of the new ACCM Catechetical Studio, which were both led by the good Archbishop.

7 books about the Catechetical Ministry were turned over to the Archdiocese of Cebu and its suffragan dioceses by the University of Santo Tomas National Catechetical Study (UST NCS) Research Team and Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education (ECCCE).

The UST NCS Research Team was led by Dr. Clarence Batan, Ph.D (Professor & Department Coordinator of the UST Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts and Letters). During the Katekista Book Caravan, Dr. Batan shared their experiences on producing the book outputs.

“Since 2016, the University of Santo Tomas Research Center for Social Sciences Education has been tasked by Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education (ECCCE). Six (6) years na po kaming nag-aaral ng Catechetical Ministry, what we produce is actually a by-product of the lovely intercession and journey with the Catechists, Catechetical Leaders, Catechetical Programs and Catechetical Human Resources with Fr. Ernie, our executive director, and all the Catechetical Leaders and Priests all over the country,” he added.

These 7 book outputs comprise the following: 4 Catechetical Modules (500 years of Christianity following the Pastoral Priorities of the Church, Modules of Saint Joseph, Adult Catechesis, and Creative Catechesis (Katekistang Malikhain) and 3 Research Outputs made of research poems (Tulaang Panaliksik) which were translated into 10 languages including Bisaya.  Dr. Batan also cited two more books, a study monograph titled Katekista Findings and Insights, and the Handbook on Being, Becoming, & Belonging to a Catechetical Ministry of the Philippines: Katekista In Manus Tuas (In Your Hands).

There are 500 printed copies that will be distributed to Bishops and Catechetical Leaders. Also, these books can be downloaded digitally for free on their website. Following the book caravan, Sr. Evangeline F. Palabate, MCST (ACCM Coordinator) gave her introductory remarks for the Launching of Catechist’s Hymn and handed over the Cebuano translation of the catechetical booklets titled “Catechesis Under the Tree” to  the Archdiocese of Cebu and its suffragan dioceses. She also introduced the new Catechetical Social Media Team (CatSocom) of Archdiocese of Cebu Catechetical Ministry.

The Certificates of Recognition were then given to Bro.Jay-Arr F. Librando, the song composer and interpreter, Eunice Lyza A. Lasola, co-interpreter, Charles L. Laspiñas for the musical arrangement, and the Cebu Archdiocesan Digital Communications Ministry (CADComM) for the video animation of the official ACCM Hymn,“Katekistang Sugboanon.”

Rev. Fr. Joseph Yntig, the director of ACCM, expressed his gratitude and concluded the ceremony with a message saying, “Everything we do is always for God’s glory.” | Gabrielaine Jane Miano
